I understand it doesn't make sense to schedule by deadline in general. However, would it make sense to schedule by deadline within a project?

I have missed deadlines because it did a task with a less tight deadline before another task with a tighter deadline within the same project.

Tasks within one project can have varying deadlines. You'd probably end up with the same problems as in the general case.
