Hello.

From the last update 7.8.3, Boinc automatically allows new tasks to all projects, almost every day. I have to turn "no new tasks" and remove unwanted tasks manually that have been downloaded. I never saw that behavior on Boinc before.

I'm using Boinc 7.8.3 (x64) in french, on Windows 8.1.
To be sure of the terms I turned Boinc into english (UK). I'll keep it working that way, to be sure it's not the french version. I'm surprised it hasn't been reported before, guessing it's not doing that to everybody ?

NB : it seems task units do not have same power consumsion. I switch Computing Preference (% of CPUs and CPU time) to keep temperature below 70°C (158°F). With GPUGRID workunit automatically turned on, it rise to ~74°C (165,2°F). I guess it's not a big deal for few hours, just to say this bug have a side effect on temperature and power consumsion.
NB2 : I used google translate to check my message, but it could keep unexpected mistakes.

Thanks to the team. Have a nice day.

It works for me, and I just tested a French BOINC Manager, so that ain't it. It's also only the GUI that runs in French, so I would be very surprised if that changed anything in your data directory.
So you say that every day you have to run "no new tasks" back on because it forgets you did that? In that case I'd check permissions on the data directory, that the account you're running BOINC with is in the group allowed to make changes to files therein.

BOINC doesn't check power consumption or temperatures. It doesn't have those functions built in.
So there's no bug going on when you set a certain percentage of CPU and CPU Time and the temperature gets above a value you want your system to run.

For that you better look at external programs, such as Speedfan, through which you can set maximum temperatures and the amount of fan speed that needs to be used to get these temperatures. Mind that running work on your GPU (like GPUGrid does) will heat things up a lot more than just running work on the CPU, and running work both on the CPU and GPU will heat things up even more. Still, none of those are monitored by BOINC. [/url]

I guess it's C:\ProgramData\BOINC. I gave to myself all rights on the folder and inherited objects. I'll feedback if it resolved my problem. Maybe I'll need several days.

I know that. I'm using CPUID HWMonitor to check temperature. :)
But I should have said it at the beginning.

About the "side effect"; I mean when I set % CPU and time CPU then I check regularly whith the monitor if the temperature stay below 70°C. But when Boinc "forget" that I don't want new tasks for others projects, it take some new ones, for exemple GPUGRID, which heat more than SETI gpu workunits. It happened in the middle of the night, so when I was up in the morning I saw the heat was like 74° or 75°C. That's why I talk about a "side effect" from that, in addition to the fact Boinc runs other workunits. :)

I will see about speedfan, the ability of a heat limit is interesting.

Thank you for your answer.

Does an AM allow/disallow tasks? I’ve never used one so I might be off track here. If so maybe the account manager is set to allow new tasks, you disable new tasks and when the AM syncs it enables new tasks again.

I totally forgot that. I'm in the grcpool and using the grcpool.com account manager. I'll ask them if related.

Thanks MarkJ maybe it's the reason. :D

Ok I found how to fix that. The problem was with the account manager and totally not from Boinc. I just had to stop using the AM then add it again. Now I can sync with my AM it will not change the option.

I can't change the title of the thread, it can be changed by adding [solved] or anything.
Thank you Ageless and MarkJ for answers.
