Can't connect to locahost

Dear BOINC, For the last few days, BOINC Manager has been unable to connect to the localhost. I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling, plus disabling all firewalls, but to no avail. Any thoughts on a solution, or what might be causing this, please? Many thanks, Ed. |

Sorry I should have said... I have a MacBook Pro (15" early '11), running macOS High Sierra 10.13.1 Everything on my system is up-to-date. Cheers, Ed. |

BOINC Manager actually attempts to connect, specifically, to the boinc client running on the local host. Can you independently verify that the client is currently running? Without that, the connection will inevitably fail. |

All fixed now thanks Richard. After several reinstalls & several restarts, it just started working again. I genuinely can't explain why or what caused it, but thank you for replying. How do I close this thread please? Cheers, ed. |
