I am a longtime Seti@Homer and since they're goingt to shut their classic servers down I just switched to Boinc. And I also added other projects already, but I have a little problem. Sometimes the screensavers just switch from normal mode (like the 3D-Waving Seti-Grafic or the rotating earth from the climate project) to the floating Boinc-logo which then shows, that it's still working on Seti for example, just the graphics are gone. But I think it can't be a problem with the different screensaver-applications because they do work - just not always. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Not all projects have screensavers. Also not all projects with screensavers have released a application since the last change in the graphics API. If a project does not have a screensaver you should get the logo box and not have any problems. A science app that has not been updated may cause problems or may just show the box as well.

In either case waiting for a new application to be released by the project is most likely the thing to do. Updating your video drivers may also help.

But that shouldn't be the case here, should it? The screensavers generally do work, but they just sometimes don't. Meaning most of the time I can see the proper screensaver, but from time to time just the BOINC logo appears insted of the screensaver. That's what I find quite strange.

Not haveing the latest API in the science application or the latest video drivers could cause what you are describing.

I had also problems with all my BOINC screensavers (seti@home, einstein@home beta).

When a work is in progress, if I click "Show Graphics" on BOINC manager, the
screensaver graphic is regularly shown, for both screensavers.

but...

If the screeensaver starts while a work-unit is in progress:

seti@home work in progress:

No seti@home screensaver, I get a blank screen.

einstein@home beta work in progress:

No einstein@home screensaver, I get a floating BOINC logo with einstein@home
work percentage.


Screen saver settings: blank screen NOT checked, 60 minutes before blank.

Latest graphic card driver installed (ATI Mobility Radeon 9000).


Reading through articles, I found a way to configure BOINC windows service
(by giving services.msc in a win shell), it seems it can have something to do
with my problem.

I checked, but I haven't any BOINC service installed on my windows 2k...

I waited form many days, than I upgraded BOINC to latest version.

No results....


Any suggestion?
