Hi,

I don't know if I'm really stupid but there is something I don't understand with the password stuff.

I'm on Linux with CC5.2.8
When I installed BOINC, the BOINC manager didn't want to connect to boinc so I deleted the numeric string in the gui_rpc_auth.cfg file and everything was OK.

But if I try to put a simple password in gui_rpc_auth.cfg and try to connect with "file->select computer..." by entering "localhost" and my password, Boinc Manager doesn't want to connect to Boinc (even after a reboot).

Do you know why putting a password in the cfg file doesn't work and letting it blank works ?
I need to understand to help a french user that have big connection problem in Mandriva (no firewall and a broadband internet connection, but the manager refuses stubbornly to connect whatever we're trying)

Thanks.

With 5.2.8, you MUST make sure that there is a CR/LF at the end of the password line... other than that, I have no idea, maybe someone else with Linux experience will come along!
