I'm running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium. I recently installed BOINC (version 6.10.18, 64-bit) and after the installation was finished, I was instructed to restart my computer. I selected the 'no' option since I still had things to close. After closing everything, I restarted. During the Windows loading screen, my computer restarted. When it came to the Windows loading screen again, instead it asked me if I wanted to run the Startup Repair utility or to Start Windows normally. I chose the Startup Repair utility. The utility did some detecting and then asked if I wanted to restore my computer using a restore point. I chose yes. I selected the latest restore point (the one prior to the installation of BOINC). After it was done restoring, it restarted my computer. When it came to the Windows loading screen, my computer restarted again putting me back at the Startup Repair utility step. |

Thank you for your reply. I usually turn my computer off every night, so the fact that my computer booted fine yesterday would indicate that there was no problem. After trying to restore to a previous restore point, I get an error that tells me System Restore cannot access certain files necessary to complete the restore. My theory is that this is a hard drive issue, and not an issue with the BOINC software. I have been having numerous problems with my drives. I don't want to admit it, but I think they need to be replaced. I searched around and since I can't find this problem listed elsewhere, I will conclude that this is indeed a hard drive issue. |
