I've been unable to install 6.10.58 in one of my systems, and after >4 tries, figured a possible cause.
I consistently got "...unavailable on a network device". I've been running Boinc since 2004, currently on 11 systems, so this one's had me stumped until I figured that maybe my C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L logical hard drives plus A:, F: (DVD), M, N, (pluggable) just may have exceeded the designers expectations.
All of these are in one full medium chassis, all are directly connected to the MB, physically there are six sata hard drives, one DVD, one A, two removable card slots and the other usual equipment.

Net of all this is that one of my fastest systems can't get going until I have a solution. HAAAAAAALP!
