Slow to respond to changes in preferences? Does not use my videocard as much as I expected? Radeon 4850 supposedly has a lot of number crunching power. I feel that I need more control over how BOINC is using my computer. Thoughts?

What's there to fix?
You want to fix it, or do you want someone else to fix it?
Which BOINC version?
Which operating system?
Which preferences are affected?
Are these local or online preferences?
Which projects are you attached to?

There are a handful that have ATI applications, yet because ATI makes it extremely difficult by themselves --with as little help they can give as humanly possible-- to program science applications on their GPUs, there aren't many projects out there willing to spend man-hours and thus money on this. That's however not a BOINC problem, but a project problem / possible ATI problem. BOINC doesn't dictate which operating systems and hardware projects are required to use.
