I recently installed Boinc and connected to 3 projects that I used to run several years back. I was glad to be able to contribute my processor time yet again. I setup Boinc to be my screen saver, and now that I have several other people in the house with me I also set it up to require a password on resume. This is an absolute must.

I noticed this working for the first few hours, but then every time I turned my screen back on and logged in all of my programs were closed. I'm unsure if Boinc was restarting my computer, crashing windows (thus restarting), logging me out, or just shutting down all my open programs. In any case, I need access to my open programs quickly and thus had to disable all my Boinc projects for now.

Does anyone have any suggestions for troubleshooting this? Is there a setting somewhere that is causing Boinc to do this? I checked the wiki and FAQ but there was no mention of anything similar. Thanks.

just a thought but:

in the BOINC Manager if you go to -> Activity -> drop down menu

have you chosen run always ? or run based on preferences ?

It's currently set to run always. Would either of these cause or resolve the issue I described above? If so, could you please tell me how?

First you'll have to find out what happened. In the windows event log, you can see if your computer rebooted or if some driver problems occurred.

In the BOINC log files, you can look for restarts also. They are TXT files in the BOINC data directory and start with "std". The BOINC event log (formerly known as messages) is kept in stdoutdae.txt.

If your machine is in fact rebooting, I think that is probably caused by heat issues. Did you chase out the dust bunnies recently?
