Hello All! I know it may be taboo here but I have used optimized apps for a very long time with little to no issues...until now. I have 2 laptops that are the same make and model. Both have low end AMD/ATI GPU's that can run OpenCL (HD6470M to be exact). On one of the laptops, GPU tasks will randomly crash the GPU driver. The other laptop does not see to have this issue. I have copied driver files from one laptop to the other to make certain they are a match with no luck. The driver does not crash all the time, just randomly...which means that the GPU will sit idle until the next reboot. Once it does reboot, the GPU will get stuck on the same workunit, at the same percentage, and repeat. In my troubleshooting I decided to run the stock GPU app for my card and it is rock solid....no driver crashes. So I am looking for options. 1) Is there a way to automatically "time out/abort" a workunit if it is taking too long to complete (say 8 hours)? 2) I've heard that you can pass command line parameters to apps. Is that what the MB_CMDLINE_XXX.txt file is used for? 3) If I want to run the stock GPU app with the optimized CPU apps, does anyone have samples of an app_info.xml file I could plagiarize? Specifically, I need the entries for the stock GPU app. I have tried just replacing file names, removing ancillary file refs, etc but that does not seem to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated! John |

Running stock and optimized apps together is no problem. I have several app_info.xml files from many projects, but depending on the project you are trying to run there are different parts used for some apps. So you might want to mention the project you are working with. |

Totally my goof. My apologies. I am running Seti@Home almost exclusively. The stock app downloaded for my GPU was "setiathome_8.22_windows_intelx86__opencl_ati_sah.exe" Thank you for your reply and your patience! jkh |

Totally my goof. My apologies. For SETI@home the "stock" GPU apps are actually optimized apps. They are maintained by the Lunatics developers and submitted to the project via Beta and then deployed on main. The current stock 8.22/8.23 ATI GPU apps are the same as the r3584 optimized app that can be downloaded from Raistmer's cloud storage or mikes download page. |

I didn't even know there were newer versions available. Installed and running now. I will report results. I would say "You da man!" but until I confirm.. "You (maybe) da man!" :-) jkh |

HAL9000 You are officially "da Man"! 24 hours with the new executables and not a single hung GPU task. Thank you!!! jkh |
