Anyone else having this problem where the Nvidia GPU gets stuck? It will just sit there forever stuck at whatever percentage it stops at, usually 0.595% or 0.610%. I have 2 computers running Boinc v7.16.3 which works a little bit better than v7.14.2. I'm running the Seti@home project. One PC has an Nvidia GTX1050ti and the other PC has an Nvidia RTX2070 Super. They both get stuck with some GPU tasks. I can keep aborting the task until I get to a work unit that works. So, Not sure if this is a Boinc problem or a Seti@home problem. I never had issues with older drivers from about a year ago. I could not even get the Intel GPU to work with the new DCH drivers until I updated to Boinc version 7.16.3. |

IRC there is a problem with newer Nvidea drivers. Go back to an older driver and the problem will be resolved. Sorry I don't know how old but I do know this works. driver: 425.31 |

Yeah, That's a real bummer to go to older drivers since my computer is not dedicated to this project. I also use it for other things including gaming. A solution to the problem would be the ultimate fix. Like a software update to the Boinc Manager. But guess I can just uninstall all this stuff and save my electric bill. Too bad NO effort is being put in to trying to address these graphics card issues. Bummer... |

BOINC doesn't use the GPU, it only detects it and its capabilities so that project applications can use it. But this is a problem with the drivers, just as AMD has at the moment problems with its drivers on RX 5x00 series GPUs. It's something the GPU manufacturers have to fix, not BOINC, not the projects. |

Seems weird how the drivers work fine for everything else but this. This has been a problem for several driver updates now. Is it anything to do with Microsoft moving to the new DCH drivers? May look in to some other grid computing options and try those out. See if the same thing happens with another client. Has there been any contact with Nvidia and AMD about these GPU compute issues, and are they being worked on? |

I have a 1080 card and I noticed the same behavior on my machine too. Many of SETI@Home tasks get stuck early on, like at 0.603%. Sometimes they run to 20% or more. Very few actually make it to 100% after a reboot. I thought maybe my card was faulty. A few days ago I updated GeForce Experience to version 441.66 but never thought it would do anything to BOINC. My BOINC version is 7.14.2. Hopefully a new driver comes out soon that fixes this or BOINC updates their software to accommodate the changes from NVIDIA. -=- Boris |

Hopefully a new driver comes out soon that fixes this or BOINC updates their software to accommodate the changes from NVIDIA. It is not BOINC that needs to update, it is SETI@Home apps that have the problem with the Nvidia drivers. Specifically the OpenCL app If you look here you will see it is a well know problem https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=84694 Personally I have dropped OpenCL and am using the CUDA app, no problems so far, except they take much longer to run. If Nvidia do not feel it is worth updating then SETI@Home will need to update their app. Boinc does not process the work units that is done by each projects applications. |

Thanks for the link! I read through the thread and see that the problem is with SETI + NVIDIA and not BOINC. -=- Boris |
