The new client on Android 10, isn't able to connect to Rosetta it seems. Rosetta is installed on my old phone, but I don't remember seeing many WUs for it. On my new phone, it won't even connect... |

The most recent version I see for Android is Beta version 7.16.3 and as far as I can see it was released 10 Oct 2019. There has not been any updates to Android app since then. |

Great minds think a like. 😃 I did pretty much the same thing. My galaxy S9+ 8 cores threads what evers under the hood, was severely over heating and caused the battery to buldge cracking the screen, and it would stop processing to cool down way to much doubling the run time when it was runny all WCG then switching to Rosetta. I adjusted the setting to constantly run 4 rosetta@home wu, 2 open pandemics wu, and 2 mapping cancer markers wu. Now it runs unbelievabley cool and has sped up running times considerably. Now I'm playing with differant combinations to see what results I get. Just FYI SZtay safe people |

Great minds think a like. WCG uses the big cores of your phone, which shouldn't be used for crunching data. Only the little cores (which means for most people that's a max of 4 threads). Also, if you have 6 to 8 threads running on the small cores, your phone may overheat. |

I am trying to do the same, but how can you set the prefernces on your phone to constantly run 4 rosetta tasks and 4 WCG? I couldn`t find that option on the phone or do you have to use that setting on the website so these settings are used globally on all of your gadgets? I would prefer to only set up my Huawei P20 that way because it runs into major heat issues. My Galaxy S8 (android 8) is running a full set of 8 tasks at once and it gives me on average 17 results on WCG per day if I let it run continously. It is actively cooled, all cpu cores run close to 100% and the temperature is always around 35 degrees C. |

Have Rosetta and WCG as your two (attached) projects, and set Boinc to use [#] CPU's. Eventually, Boinc will have the tasks balanced between both projects, to run at the same time. (Personally, I would let it take ~2 days, depending on how long your phone is on, and what you've set for the Rosetta runtimes.) https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/ |

I currently run Universe@home, which is the only project that runs perfectly fine, with CPU temps hardly going over 30C. WCG now is more stable, reaching between 33 to 38C (I set my cap to 40C, to save the battery); running mostly at around 35C. Rosetta still gives me issues. It most definitely uses the big cores, and my phone overheats. The other projects (Einstein, Yoyo, Moo! Wrapper, and other suggested projects), don't seem to work on my phone. One thing that does seem to help, is glue two layers of thick (barbecue style) aluminum foil on the inside of the case. Preferably run the phone without case, but if you do need one, put a layer of aluminum foil. It spreads the heat more evenly, and allows for better cooling (~1-3 C cooler CPU temperatures). |

Samsung Galaxy A71, Android 10, Snapdragon 730, has 6 small cores at 1,8Ghz @ 8nm. This phone runs Universe@home, and World Community Grid. I had to disable Rosetta due to overheating. Samsung Galaxy A51, Android 10, Exynos 9611 with 4 small cores at 1,7Ghz @10nm, This phone runs Universe@home, nd World Community Grid as well. It could run Rosetta, even with the big cores running (maxes out at 36.5C battery temperature), however it's dog slow. Takes ~24 hours to do a WU. So far, I got zero points on Rosetta, so I can't tell much yet. Despite the A71 having 6 cores, each low power core also works a lot faster than the Exynos'. |
