I got this email overnight, with the headline Science United: please install new BOINC version

Dear RDH_SU_test:

If you are running BOINC on a Windows computer,
please install a new version (7.16.20) of the software.
The previous version stopped working recently because of an expired SSL file
that prevented it from communicating with several BOINC projects,
with the BOINC server, and with Science United.

Wouldn't it be a good idea also to let project administrators know that this update is needed, so that they can publicise it on their own websites (where needed)?

BOINC update 18/10/2021, my software refuses to run at all.
I currently have 3 work units remaining which will expire today.
I am running the new Windows 11 on an Acer Aspire 3.
Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place but if someone could let me know what is happening please.
When I try to boot BOINC I get a message with an error but I cannot recreate that message now.

Without the error message it's only guesswork. So please try to get the error message. Else check in Windows Event Viewer, I'm sure that's still in Windows 11.

Will the responsible volunteers be following up with updated Release Notes and 7.16. Change Log postings ?

We know that the major change was the cert file but others who don't follow the forums with look at those two places before downloading and installing.

Hi

could this problem affect also macOS client ?

Reporting a project connexion problem on NFS and TN-Grid since end of August (and not end of September) that only affect macOS client and that is still going on for me.

Latest mac version is 7.16.19 (early August release, only talking about translations issues).
