Lol. We need to spread the word and get some new whale crunchers like yourself Keith =).

I got a question for you, What do you think is the most efficient/effective way to advertise and attract new BOINC crunchers? I feel there are alot of people that would like following the projects, and the hardware tinkering, and to competitiveness, and the social component, and knowing they are helping a cause. How do we find these people and tell them this thing called BOINC exists?

To me Gridcoin is a tool to help bring people to distributive computing and to science. Hopefully people will see a value in that. I really like what they are doing to expose a new generation to BOINC.

We need to replicate the same kind of excitement and "newness" of BOINC as when it was introduced to me 20 odd years ago. I got bombarded with science articles advertising the Seti search and in articles in the electronics and computer magazines of the day. Popular Science, Wired, PC Magazine etc. I learned of Seti through my OS/2 newsletters and online resources for example.

The articles got across that you really should not let our powerful new computing machines be dormant 22 hours of the day while you were busy working and sleeping and doing all the other normal things of your life. Best to throw those unused compute cycles into new ways of performing science discovery.

I guess in this day and age, the message needs to get out through the current mediums that took the place of physical publishers of that past era. How to bring that information to the forefront of awareness is the challenge with the avalanche of digital news and entertainment. You somehow need to rise above that fray. How to do that is beyond me and I don't understand social media.

Maybe a new project, or an oldie. SETI or an AI trainer or what ever the new thing is. Any commercial applications in design or simulation? That would be a good way to get some financial support and increase interest. Time will tell. I see value in what I am contributing, if nothing else, that is worth it to me.
