    v56 v57
    175175Our recommended approach is not to build directly on a Linux host, but rather:
    176176
    177  * If you are using Windows XP with SP2 or below install [http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6d58729d-dfa8-40bf-afaf-20bcb7f01cd1&DisplayLang=en Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 SP1]. If you are using Windows XP with SP3 or Windows Vista install [http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=28C97D22-6EB8-4A09-A7F7-F6C7A1F000B5&displaylang=en Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 SP1]. We recommend to use a Windows XP machine (preferably one that's fast and has lots of disk).

    181 }}}
    182177 * Download the [VmCompatibility Compatibility] virtual machine module. This is a Debian Linux system with the appropriate (old) version of GCC.
    183178 * Run this system under Virtual PC.
